To all those who love rap (hip hop), please do not read any further. This post is going to be bombarded with rants about how angry i am with it. Try not to be angry at me, a'right? I'm just exercising my right of free speech.
Ready? Ok, here goes.
First of all, what is
music?
According to
Mirriam-webster Online, it is
the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity and continuity. In other words, it ought to be
pleasing to the ear.
But, can we classify
rap as music?
As for me, i do not want to categorize
rap as a form of music. Rather, i think it ought to be placed in between the
noise pollution and
Language destruction/mutilation department instead.
In my honest opinion, rap ought to be banned. Everybody knows that music is a very powerful weapon, just as shown in the movie
Josie and the pussycats. And now, rap is affecting the way the youth of today thinks. Just look at your surroundings, you can easily spot a guy sporting an overly large pants and jersey atop a white shirt. On his head you could see a sun bisor askew. And, let's not forget, the "bling-bling". In case you do not know yet, "bling-bling"s are those silver, chain-like accesories that makes a person look like somebody's pet gone loose. You see? That's only one of the grotesque effects of rap. There're lots more. Like, girls today tend to get nastier in terms of clothing. I'm thinking that it could be because of the way the women in rap videos wear. Also, the rate of teens getting hooked on weeds, drugs and sex are increasing steadily. Why? You know the answer. Just tune in to MTV or MYX and watch them.
I don't need Dom Perignon, I don't need Cris
Tanqueray and Alize, I don't need shit
Nigga I'm high all the time, I smoke that good shit
I stay high all the time, man I'm on some hood shit
Give me some dro, purple haze, and some chocolate
Give me a dutch and a lighter I'll spark shit
And stay high all the time, I smoke that good shit
I'm high all the time, man I'm on some hood shit
(Verse 1)
Everytime I ROLL up, niggas holla ROLL up, and I tell'em HOLD up,
You ain't gettin money you ain't smoking
In my Benzo, 20 inch Lorenzos, smoking on indo
Hiiigh as a motherfucker
I be on them backstreets, niggas know I clap heat, only if you got beef
Man you better holla at me
Niggas get locked up, stabbed up, shot up
Everytime I pop up, a lot going on in my hood
See those lyrics? It's like a dozen of swear words strung together. And to think that's the kind of lyrics the music 40% of the teens today worship.
I hate rap. But not necessarily all of them. I like the way the
Black-eyed peas do it. At least the message they convey is about peace and love.
Where is the love people?!. Oh and Dice & k9's
itsumo rocks too. I think it's the only rap song that made me listen to it again and again. Not only that it's made by pinoys, the message it shows is about T-R-U-E love. Awww. xD
Oh well. I guess this is the product of a wasted, sleepless mind of a 16-year old girl. xD
